24 December – 2010-2018: Doudna & Oganessian
The final day of this year’s chemistry advent looks at the current decade. The first scientist featured is Jennifer Doudna, a biochemist who co-invented the CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing tool.
Also featured is Yuri Oganessian, only the second person to have an element named after them while still alive. He developed the techniques which allowed superheavy elements to be discovered and has been involved in a number of their discoveries.
Hope you’ve all enjoyed this year’s Chemistry Advent. Thanks for following along, and be sure to come back for next year’s!
