8 March is International Women’s Day. As in previous years, I’ve put together another edition of this series looking at underappreciated women from chemistry history.

If you haven’t seen them previously, be sure to check out part 1 and part 2 of the series as well. There’s also an edition looking at contemporary women in chemistry, and a graphic looking at the women of the periodic table.

This edition is heavily indebted to the work done by the authors of ‘Women in their element: Selected women’s contributions to the periodic system’ in highlighting the contributions of a number of the scientists featured.
