The third and final science Nobel Prize of 2020 was awarded today. The 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna for the development of CRISPR-Cas9 genetic scissors, a tool that allows scientists to edit genomes.
The second of the science Nobel Prizes awarded this year was in Physics. The Nobel Prize in Physics 2020 was awarded with one half to Roger Penrose, “for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity”, and the other half jointly to Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez “for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy”.
Today the first of the 2020 Nobel Prizes was awarded. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2020 was awarded jointly to Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice “for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus.”
