Here’s something a little different for the Christmas period! It might be a little late, given Christmas was yesterday, but I did take the opportunity to play around with some chemistry at the Christmas table, and this is the result. Though it certainly doesn’t match the production values of the ACS Reactions or Chemistry in Context videos, hopefully it’s still a bit of entertaining festive chemistry whilst you’re recovering from your Christmas Day exertions!
This is the first chemistry video I’ve put together, so I’d be interested to hear your feedback, positive or negative. If people are keen then I might make videos an occasional extra feature alongside the usual graphics, when I get the time to make them! Additionally, if you’ve yet to complete it, the Compound Interest reader survey is still open, where you can let me know anything else you’d like to see from the site in 2016.
Whether you’re celebrating Christmas or not, hope you’ve all had a great holiday break!

This is a nicely filmed video with interesting content. I’d like to see more videos in the future.
Brilliant combination of visual effect with scientific explanation and overlay graphics. It reminds me of Brian Cox’s Wonders of Life documentary, with its floating formulae. More common is either fun pictures or technical explanation. I appreciate your clever pairing. Please continue to produce videos so we teachers can continue to share with our students. Thank you!
